Management 2000 Benefits

There is no business that can operate in today's world without computer assistance and the difference between good and bad management systems can be substantial. Management 2000 offers the technology solution to manage the details, reduce the costs - and grow the profit of your retail business.

Management 2000 has been designed to deliver measurable business benefits to Retailers in the following areas:

  1. Operational

All of the operational programs have been designed to be easy to learn, productive and focused on the exact tasks that the operator has to perform. We can customise key tasks such as purchase ordering to ensure that the business retains it's strategic advantages. We focus on work flow, use of the keyboard without the mouse, and completion of the task from the one program.

Management 2000 has a rigorous set of cross checks and a self healing update application to ensure that the Database remains in good order. In retail it is common for POS files to be submitted twice in error and double updated. Management 2000 manages this and similar situations, and there is no end of period "Roll" to place pressure on the business in peak periods or in the case of any problems that may occur.

Management 2000 recognises the Retail cycles and the importance of "Monday morning" reports. These are closely scrutinised for processing efficiency to ensure that they will be delivered on time, and that they can be readily updated with additional information if some of the transactions have not been received over the weekend.

  2.

  3. Financial

Retailers make money from the stock that they purchase and this can be managed continuously in terms of Gross Profit and Stock Turns using Management 2000.

Management 2000 has been designed to assist the retailer to measure and maximise the profit that is made.

As a by-product of using Management 2000 the Retailer can very accurately value the goodwill of the business and determine if it is increasing or diminishing.

  4. Staff

Approximately 80% of the staff in a Retail business are facing the customer. In addition, most theft of both money and goods is carried out by staff.

Management 2000 assists the Retailer to manage those staff, from the initial setting of budgets and automatic translation of these into store targets, through the selling process which automatically allocates staff to each transaction, through audit and balancing, to reporting based on real facts. Traditional reporting (best, worst, highest value etc) through to full performance based analysis is provided, including graphical views that assist with overall staff planning by location, day of the week and time of day. Time management (rosters and timesheets) can be integrated with payroll, saving time and effort in timesheet collection and data input.

Just as the Retailer has to have stock, staff are an essential, but it is equally essential that their use is managed and their contribution is measured.

  5. Marketing

Retail is about selling stock to customers. Customers are the most vital asset of any retailer, but they have minds of their own - Retailers cannot force them to buy. Successfully selling stock to customers requires the congruence of the offer and the customer’s needs. Management 2000 supports very powerful promotions with both customer and product directed offers.

Management 2000 is focused on the success of this process and allows the Retailer to talk directly with the customer through the Loyalty application, and in the manner to which the individual customer responds. Management 2000 also retains a full record of customer and store performance for each promotion, thus providing an objective measure of the return on the investment made.

In a more traditional sense, Management 2000 supports getting replenishment stock to the right place as early in the season as possible, and where possible, repeat orders for fast selling lines. Management 2000 assists with identifying fast and slow moving lines and what the buyer needs to do with them to maximise the profit for the season. In the stores, a combination of Customer Loyalty information and stock information has assisted with Full Retail stock cleansing of the large and small sizes for popular lines.

In the buying cycle, Management 2000 has been designed to allow the buyer to associate a new style with a similar one from a previous season and thus get an accurate picture of what has worked and what level of performance has been achieved. Supplier performance (in terms of dollars sold and dollars earned) assists with the selection of the next seasons lines.

  6. Development over time

Management 2000 has been designed from the premise that Retail is a business where change is a constant factor. Management 2000 has been designed to grow and be changed. A client server environment allows the database to be expanded considerably with no impact on operational programs, and for additional functionality to be developed.

Management 2000 continues to be updated and developed by the fine teams at Ontempo Retail Systems and Auckland Software. It has also been deliberately engineered so that other software professionals (in-house and contracted) can easily work with the database and tools to expand functionality and enhance reporting. This gives our customers the ultimate in security over the long term, and ensures that Management 2000 is a superb long-term investment for any retail business.
